Free Dirty Workout? Yes! and when we say dirty, we mean dirt.Street Car Desire

It is time to dig out the rails so we can get Streetcar #23 rolling again for 2015. We need as much help as possible to clean out the tracks and shovel up all the debris – which is a wonderful way to exercise the body!

This Sunday April 12th at 7am, we are calling on all volunteers to come on down to the Mall Parking lot to help clean up the rails. Meet us at the Save on Foods end of the mall, be prepared to get dirty, bring gloves and dress warm.

Cleaning the Tracks for Streetcar#23Also you can take the time to sign up for this year’s training sessions happening April 15th or for one of our many opportunities, including our new museum which will be open regular hours this season.

Stay tuned for more updates and the 2015 schedule.

See You On the Rails!

Waking up the Trolley – AGM – We Need Your Help!

It starts with You! We need your help with getting the 2015 Trolley Season going and there are many ways to help. HHT 23tmp5BF0_1024x768

The Annual General Meeting is at 7pm Tuesday March 24th at the Pilot’s Lounge on the north end of the Terminal Building at the Nelson Airport. Come on down to find out what is happening this season and how you can help out. With the Museum opening this year we need your help more than ever.

Also

WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!!

I know most of us want to just drive the streetcar but there is an awful lot of work that needs to be done prior to our start-up.

Starting this Thursday and every Tuesday and Thursday prior to April 23rd (we have 1000 students coming) we need to clean the track, do brushing, inspect equipment, organize the displays for the Museum etc, etc, etc.

The list goes on and on and your core people are wearing out – WE NEED YOUR HELP. Come on down at 9 am and if you can only give us an hour of your time that would be greatly appreciated.

There will be a sign up sheet at the AGM where you can see all of the Committees that need to be manned and supported and we encourage everyone to place their name on at least one Committee in order to ease the pressure on the Board of Directors.

Terry Thompson will gladly take your name and membership dues as well as sign you up for your re-fresher training, which is a requirement for us all each and every year.

Classroom refresher courses will start on Wednesday April 15 and will be conducted at 9 am, 1 pm as well as 6 pm.

Streetcar#23 is Closed – Thank you for an incredible season!

As we put the streetcars to bed and get ready for winter, we would like to thank everyone Rainbow trolley2for their wonderful support and enthusiasm this 2014 season.

The year started off with a bug as someone stole copper cable from our tracks, this started a wave of support that left tears in the eyes of some of our drivers.  People would flag down the streetcar to offer donations and support, one person went so far as to bring the trolley a bag full of copper cable to be used to fix the tracks.  It was this kind gesture that showcased what a wonderful community we live in and motivates us to get up each day to volunteer with the society.

“It really makes you feel that all the work we are doing with the Nelson Electric Tramway Society is worth it when the public comes to our aid without use asking.” Says Jim Robertson, NETS Board Member and Driver, “When people stopped the trolley to offer a donation or support, it made us feel that this job we do is worth it.”

The Nelson Electric Tramway Society would like to thank everyone for their awesome support and encouragement to keep us going.

Thank you Nelson – Have a great winter and See you on the rails in May!

Nelson BC, The Nelson Electric Tramway Society and the Nelson Paranormal League are gearing up for their end of Season Haunted Heritage Tour Streetcar #23 this October 3rd,4th,5th and this time there are more stories, more stops and more haunted adventures.

The Haunted Heritage tour is back for the last run of the season bringing you an entertaining look at the historical and paranormal side of Nelson from the safety and comfort of local Streetcar #23. This time there are extra stories and new found facts about the mysteries of the Kootenays.

“This summer when we hosted the tours, people would approach us with their own experiences and we would get at least one new lead and at least one good story worthy of investigating.” Explains Trolley Driver and Paranormal League founder Chris Holland, “Each time we host one of these tours or when someone hears what we are doing they will usually have a story to tell about the unexplained in our area. It is when you hear the same stories over and over again that you realize something is worth investigating. For this last tour I have added some new stories and areas worthy of further exploration.”

Although this is the last run of the season and the Trolley is being put away for the winter, Chris Holland has some plans from some more paranormal fun as All Hallows Eve approaches, including walking tours and a haunted pub crawl.

“I’m currently putting together a simple walking tour of downtown Nelson featuring the mysterious and unexplained hot spots of the area” Says Chris Holland. “These tours will bring you up close and personal with highly active paranormal locations and are not for the faint of heart.”

October starts with the last run of the Haunted Heritage Tour Streetcar #23 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday the 3rd, 4th and 5th starting at 5:30pm loading at Lakeside Park Trolley Stop.
